Monterrey, Nuevo León. – In the context of the inauguration of a student facility with cutting-edge technology that supports strategic decision-making at the Monterrey Technological Institute (ITESM), representatives of the North American Development Bank (NADB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Latin American and Caribbean Water Center (CDA), reaffirmed their commitment to continue partnering on various initiatives that foster the institutional strengthening of local governments in the northern border region of Mexico.

Located in the CDA’s facilities, this new space called the “Nucleus of Strategic Decisions” is being financed by IDB and the FEMSA Foundation, the social investment arm of the Mexican bottling and distribution company for Coca-Cola. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was presided over by Genaro Borrego Estrada, FEMSA Director of Corporate Affairs; Verónica Zavala, representing IDB in Mexico; and Jurgen Mahlknecht, CDA Director. NADB Program Manager Jorge Silva represented the bank at the event.

“For NADB, it is important to participate and encourage these types of initiatives with our CDA and IDB partners,” stated Geronimo Gutiérrez, NADB Managing Director. “It is feasible that in the future, the bank could use this space to present its training program for Mexican communities and utilities, which is developed in coordination with the ITESM.”

Currently, NADB is working with the CDA in providing a diploma-level course on water utility basics for utility managers in Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon and Coahuila, as well as with IDB on the implementation of an Emerging and Sustainable Cities (ESC) initiative in Hermosillo, Sonora.
