San Antonio, Texas. – The North American Development Bank (NADB), Mission Solar Energy and the Castro Limon Foundation, A.C., signed an agreement to support the development of an energy efficiency project to build a solar plant on the facilities of the Pediatric Oncologic Center (the Center) of Baja California in the city of Tijuana.

This project is being made possible through the collaboration of NADB and Mission Solar Energy, a San Antonio-based manufacturer of photovoltaic solar panels, which is providing the solar panels at no cost for the construction of a solar park, while NADB will provide up to US$125,000 grant from its Technical Assistance Program to cover the cost of design, engineering and construction of the project. Enertis Inc. will be in charge of overseeing the project. It is expected that once the solar park is finalized, the Center will have substantial savings in energy costs.

During the public meeting of the Board of Directors of NADB and the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), Gerónimo Gutiérrez, NADB Managing Director, Alex Kim, President and CEO of Mission Solar Energy and Juan Manuel Castro Torres, President of the Castro Limón Foundation, signed the agreement that will provide the Center with an alternative renewable energy source to cover part of its electricity needs.

“The Castro Limon Foundation has the noble cause to treat children diagnosed with cancer and assist their families, and the support we are providing for this Project will allow the Center to free resources for the care of a larger number of patients,” stated Mr. Gutierrez.

He also added “we are pleased to collaborate along with the different companies involved to bring this project to reality and make possible the construction of this solar plant at a minimum cost for the Center.”

The Director of the Center, Mr. Andrés Araujo stated that they are pleased to receive this donation and expressed their gratitude to NADB for the support and to the donors for their contributions. “The donation of this solar panels will allow us to reduce our expenses and spend those savings on treatments for the children with cancer who are our patients” he stated.

"It is an honor to partner with NADB on this important project," said Mr. Kim. "As we look to expand our product distribution into Mexico it is important that we make a local impact through projects such as this one." “

At Enertis we are glad to bring our expertise to the project for such a good cause. We are happy that our friends at NADB invited us to participate together with the Castro Limon Foundation and Mission Solar Energy” said Inaki Herrero, Country Manager of Enertis for North America.
