This project will focus on raising awareness in five rural communities in Matamoros, Tamaulipas on proper waste management and sustainable environmental practices. Each community will have installed waste containers with the goal of reducing illegal dumping in these communities. Educational workshops will be implemented to inform residents about best waste management practices, uses of pesticides and how they can take advantage of their natural resources while minimizing environmental impacts. The project team will also build community gardens for the communities while teaching them about composting.
